Employment Skills Programme
Unfortunately, due to high demand and reduced capacity as a result of staff illness, we now have a six-week wait for our Employment Skills Programme. If you enquire for support via telephone, email or online form, please be aware that we will contact you in the New Year when our Employment Skills Programme starts taking appointments again.
Our new and improved Employment Skills Programme is started in January 2023. The programme is made up of four separate programmes, each designed to support people aged 16+ at different stages of their employment journeys:
- The Booster Programme: 3 – 6 months unemployed
Six sessions of practical, hands-off support for clients with a clear goal-direction - The Refresh Programme: 6 – 12 months unemployed
Nine sessions of reflective, practical support to help clients identify their next employment steps - The Spark Programme: 12 + months unemployed
A combination of two group sessions and 12 one-to-ones to provide intensive, holistic support to increase job readiness - The Enhance Programme: Employed and in receipt of means-tested benefits
Six sessions of practical, hands-off support for clients in employment who want to become more financially stable
Whether you’ve only recently become unemployed, have been unemployed for over a year or find yourself in employment but financially unstable, we can help you build the skills and confidence to get that job or training you’ve been waiting for.
Get in touch to find out which of our four programmes is right for you. Email your name, how long you’ve been unemployed for and your contact number to employment@clementjames.org, give us a call on 020 7221 8810 or come to our reception to speak to a member of staff.
If you are employed, please confirm that you receive income-related benefits support, as we can only provide support to those who do.
Employment Drop-In
If you have a quick employment query that you would like to speak about with an advisor, we also run a drop-in session every Wednesday and Friday from 11 am – 1 pm. These one-off hour-long sessions provide a space for you to receive advice on your quick queries, and are ideal for topics such as support with CVs, cover letters or interview preparation.
Email employment@clementjames.org to book a slot.
CV Drop-In
We also run two drop-in sessions a week where you can work on your CV one-to-one with a volunteer. These sessions run on Mondays and Fridays from 12 pm – 1 pm.
Email employment@clementjames.org to book a slot.
Interview Skills Day
Interview Skills Day offers a fantastic chance for people to practice and develop interview skills, to familiarise themselves with the interview process, and to increase overall confidence.

Participants will take part in interactive activities designed to develop key interview skills, such as:
- Confidence
- Creative thinking
- Presentation skills
- Framing experience and using STAR
They will also get the opportunity to have a 1:1 mock interview and gain feedback.
In the past, we’ve run events with amazing corporate volunteers including Dunnhumby, Wyelands Bank, Smart Works, Johnson & Johnson and Javelin Group.
I really liked the way we were supported in small groups and given time to reflect, practice and share. Also the way the session was delivered was amazing.
[My volunteer] was fantastic and made me feel at ease and worthy of gaining employment, which I was not feeling.
I feel more confidence of how to answer the questions at an interview and feeling more prepared.

Communication Skills Day
We run a one-day Communications Skills Day where you can gain insight into the professional world, developing your public speaking skills and building confidence in the process.
You will be paired with a corporate volunteer who will coach you to build your confidence in public speaking and communication as you work together on a short presentation throughout the day. You will then deliver this back to the group, putting your new communication skills into practice!
I never thought I could talk in front of more than ten people in English. After this programme, especially today, I believe I can do it and I am ready for my next journey.
