DESIGN – LANDSCAPE – DESIGNING SENSITIVELY

- The Community Garden is designed to provide a number of external teaching rooms. Each space affords privacy yet connection.
- Midlevel planting affords privacy yet passive supervision to ensure adequate safeguarding can be maintained.
- All areas of the garden are accessible and link directly to the covered walkway and the classrooms beyond.
- New onsite bike storage is proposed to encourage health and wellbeing and a reduced reliance on public transport or the car.
- Site security is maintained by preserving the existing gate railings and hedge line that border Sirdar Road.
- A new gate is proposed linking Sirdar Road to the covered walkway and the new reception area to retain that ClementJames sense of welcome.
- This gate opens to screen off the area of planting fronting Sirdar Road and east of the Learning Annexe. This is to ensure neighbourly privacy is maintained.
- The Winter Garden and covered walkway will provide new all year-round use.
- With the addition of the Winter Garden and external covered walkway we are able to maintain the status quo of garden space on site. This ratio is further enhanced by the inclusion of planting to the covered walkway roof.
