IntoUniversity student Sadiya registered at the centre at the age of 14, unable to speak a word of English. She quickly became a regular attendee at our after-school Academic Support sessions, which provide a learning space in which young people can receive support with their schoolwork. We supported her through her GCSEs and A Levels and paired her with a university mentor. Sadiya joined us on a number of FOCUS activities including a City Learning FOCUS week which inspired her to successfully complete her Business degree at university.
We have also supported Sadiya’s two brothers and 3 sisters for many years on the IntoUniversity programme, and her mother through the Communicate Adult Learning programme.
Ayisha started coming to The ClementJames Centre for support at the age of 11. She regularly attended Academic Support and joined us on a number of experiential learning activities including a trip to Belgium. She was supported through her GCSEs and A Levels and having shown an interest in Law was paired with a graduate mentor. Ayisha has now graduated from Warwick University with a 1st Class degree in Law and Sociology and has started a new training contract with global law firm DLA Piper. Ayisha has been a trustee of The ClementJames Centre since 2008. Her mother has been supported through the Centre’s IntoWork programme and her sister attends the IntoUniversity programme.
