Jazz stars help break ClementJames fundraising record

What a night! We would like to say a big Thank You to everyone who joined us last week at our fundraising evening with the brilliant Jazz Dynamos. Only one week after releasing their latest CD the jazz quartet with singer Lucy Randell performed in aid of The ClementJames Centre in front of a 200 strong crowd.

Before the band took to the stage, Saida, one of our service users, spoke about her personal experiences coming to the centre:

There has been a change for the better since we started coming here, it is always positive. We are always welcome. I was in a difficult financial situation which was causing me stress but through the support of the centre this has improved. Without ClementJames life would be difficult to be honest with you. They help me with my communication and they have made lots of parts of my life better for me and my family. If you want to study, if you want help, if you need advice, if you need support, it is all available at the centre and that makes a big difference to everyone here in the community.

Thanks to everyone’s efforts and generosity the event raised over £12,000, more than any of our previous events. This will enable us to run our highly impactful Wellbeing Clinic and young people’s resilience workshops for a year. We are so grateful to all of you who donated to the event, had a go on the ‘Lucky Dip Tree’, bid on our silent auction items, or bought the Jazz Dynamos’ CD.

We would also like to thank the Jazz Dynamos and Lucy for supporting the charity with this incredibly entertaining show.

How to raise money for ClementJames – every time you shop online!

eflogo

How it works:

  • Every time you shop online the retailer donates a percentage to The ClementJames Centre, at no extra cost to you.
  • Over 2000 retailers (inc. Amazon, Sainsbury’s, John Lewis, M&S, eBay) are registered

How you do it:

  1. Go to http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/clementjames/
  2. Follow the instructions to register
  3. Install the Find and Remind toolbar – this will let you know when you are on a website which is registered with EasyFundraising and ask if you would like to claim a donation to ClementJames (this just means that a percentage of your purchase will go to the charity).
  4. If you are a UK taxpayer, you can also claim Gift Aid on EasyFundraising. To do so once you have set up an account, please go to ‘Settings’ under the ‘Your account’ tab on the top right-hand corner, then tick the Gift Aid box and enter your address.

That’s it, easy peasy!  If you have any questions please do get in touch with us.

Thank you!

Bags of Help for ClementJames

Shayma and Nadima small

In partnership with the Parish of St Clement & St James The ClementJames Centre is looking to redevelop the small St Clement’s church garden along Sirdar Road to create a new community space for gardening and art projects, as well as general enjoyment. We are very pleased to announce that we have been selected as one of three organisations to participate in the ‘Tesco Bags of Help’ scheme throughout this February.
Between the 1st and 25th February, each time you shop in the stores below (spending any value) you will receive a token to vote for our project, which you can put into a box in store. The first prize is £5,000, the second is £2,500 and the third is £1,000.
We’re very grateful for any contribution towards the vote and thank you for your support!

The scheme sees three community groups and projects in each of around 200 Tesco regions awarded grants of £5,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge. The public will now vote in store from 1st to 25th February on who should receive the £5,000, £2,000 and £1,000 awards.
